About Us

Our Mission

GCRA is a non-profit, volunteer-based adult organization dedicated to providing its diverse membership safe sculling and sweep rowing opportunities, from beginner to competitive levels. GCRA is committed to promoting and fostering interest in the sport of rowing through programming, through teaching and by organizing regattas.

Our History

The Greater Columbus Rowing Association (GCRA) was founded in 1984 as a tax exempt not-for-profit organization. GCRA was incorporated as "The Greater Columbus Rowing Association, Inc." in the fall of 1984 when its Articles of Incorporation were approved by the Ohio Secretary of State. GCRA's charter number is 643984. The incorporators and original trustees were Miles C. Durfey, Albert Bishop, J. Patric Dennis and Robert D. Oldfield, III. The first statutory agent was Miles C. Durfey.
