Corporate Team-Building

GCRA can offer your organization a unique, memorable, and physically active team-building training experience that emphasizes the importance of working together for a common goal.

Sweep rowing provides a low-impact, total-body workout that can be enjoyed by adults of any age. In addition to being a fantastic form of exercise, it’s the ultimate team sport, making it an ideal team-building experience for a variety of work groups. Combine rowing activities with an "out of office" business meeting that builds on the experience, or just have some fun and build some camaraderie.

Following a team-building event provided for the Columbus Blue Jackets prospects, Chris Clark, CBJ Development Coach, had this to say about the experience:

“Starting from the time we arrived at the boathouse to when we left, the organization and professionalism of the volunteers was amazing.  Our guys not only learned about the teamwork side of the sport of rowing; it was also a lot of fun.”

The team-building exercise is a full- or partial-day (5 hours) structured experience that includes instruction in the basics of sweep rowing. The day includes both classroom and “on the water” activities.

The event takes place at The Griggs Reservoir Boathouse, 3033 Thoburn Rd., Hilliard, Ohio, 43026.  The Boathouse offers:

  • A banquet room overlooking the reservoir and docks

  • Kitchen facilities for catering

  • Clean restrooms and shower facilities

  • Easy parking

All scheduling and arrangements for facilities, catering, and the rowing activities will be coordinated by a GCRA team member.

The cost of the event typically ranges from $3,000 to $5,000, depending on the structure of the event and the number of participants. Because of the capacity of the boats, the ideal group size is a multiple of 6 people. However, any number of participants, up to 30, can be accommodated. Some participants can ride in the launch boats and still be a part of the coaching and camaraderie.

Rowers must be able to swim, stand up from a sitting position on the floor, and perform a physical activity that requires full-body motion. Due to equipment limitations, participants must weigh between 100 and 250 pounds.

Passengers in the launch boats will be required to wear a personal flotation device, and they should be able to step in and out of the boat.

All participants will be required to sign a waiver of liability prior to rowing or riding in one of the launch boats.
