The Griggs Reservoir Boathouse

GCRA began using the newly constructed Griggs Reservoir Boathouse in April of 2011.

GCRA security access cards will open the doors.  The boathouse is available between 5:00am and 9:30pm.  You must not enter the building outside these hours or the alarm will be triggered.

The contract to construct the Griggs Reservoir Boathouse was approved by the Columbus City Council on October 5, 2009.  This boathouse is a shared facility between GCRA, Ohio State University's Women's Varsity Rowing Team and the City of Columbus.

If you would like to inquire as to how to rent the Scioto Room in the Griggs Reservoir Boathouse, please contact the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department, Permit and Rental Services.  GCRA is not involved in the scheduling of non-rowing events in the facility.

Land & Water Acknowledgment

The land on which our boathouse stands is part of the ancient homeland and traditional territory of many Native peoples including the Shaawanwaki (Shawnee), the Lenape (Delaware), the Seneca-Cayuga, and the Wyandot (Wendat), whose name for the Scioto River persists though they were forcibly removed to territory further West. We pay respect to Indigenous peoples past, present, and future and their continuing connection to the land and water we use for rowing.
